Cactus Service Unit consists of Girl Scout troops of all ages from the south side of Corpus Christi. This page is designed to give up to date information regarding service unit projects, troop events, recognitions , and general information concerning Girl Scouts.

Girl Scout Links
- Daisy
- (5-6 yrs)
A girl in kindergarten, aged 5-6 years. Meet in small groups usually 2-4 times/month. Does not participate in product sales.
- Brownie
- (6-8 yrs)
Girls enrolled in 1st-3rd grades. Government is done by Brownie Circle with majority rule. Participate in product sales. Camping begins with backyard and progresses to Core Camping at Camp Greenhill, the Council's resident Camp.
- Junior
- (8-11 yrs)
Girls enrolled in 4th-6th grades. Troop governing bodies are elected and patrols are formed. Troops participate in 1-2 night camping experiences in different locations.
- Cadette
- (11-14 yrs)
Girls are usually in Middle School. Troops are usually smaller than before due to increased participation in school activities. Cadettes can earn the Silver Award by completing 3 Interest Project badges, earning the Leadership pin, Career Challenge, and completing a 20 hour project.
- Senior
- (14-18 yrs)
Girls are in High School. Many hold offices in the District-Wide Older Girl Planning Board. These girls help to plan district activities for Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts. The Senior Girl Scout can earn the Gold Award, the highest award possible in Girl Scouting. This requires completion of 4 Interest Project badges, earning the Sr. Leadership pin, Sr. Career Challenge, and completing a project (a minimum of 40 hours) that helps to benefit the community.
Many Brownies participated in the Summer '99 Day Camp Program. The theme was "*******" # girls participated in the session that was held at the ***** Camp. Some Brownies were ready to leave home for a few days and attended resident camp at Camp Greenhill in Mathis. They participated in a variety of camping activities that included boating, swimming, arts & crafts, archery, and campfire.

- On June 5th Yvonne Rio attended the State-Wide Gold Award Presentation in Austin, TX. She completed a book drive to help establish a library at the local Women's Shelter.
- Tonya is presently completing her Gold Award by improving the Challenge Course at Camp Greenhill.
- In July, Tonya will be attending a Wider Opportunity in Missouri. She will be working with handicapped children. A former Girl Scout, Hillary, will be attending again as a Counselor
- On August 8th, Tonya and Kari will be bridging from Senior to Adult Girl Scouts.
